Set Up for Success: Your First Week with zlien

Congratulations! You’ve taken your first steps toward getting what you earn by  implementing a more fair and transparent construction payment process with
zlien. You may be thinking to yourself: “OK, great... now what?” The goal of this post is to outline a strategy to set yourself up for a successful partnership with zlien from your very first week.

Start with the Right Goals and the Right People

During your first week with zlien, you can have a training session scheduled with one of our Training & OnBoarding Managers. You will also be introduced to your dedicated zlien Account Manager, who serves as a strategic ally throughout the lifespan of the account. Sounds great, right? However, these actions are being done on the zlien side of the house. Let's cover what you should do to make the most of your first week. It will be on you and your company to get the ball rolling on your end to achieve success as quickly as possible.

The first thing you will need to think about is why you and your company decided to partner with zlien.  Are you trying to build out a preliminary notice process? Are you trying to streamline and organize document exchanges on your construction jobs? We see companies come to zlien for a variety of different reasons… you need to define and internally communicate your reason. Once these motivators are identified, you’ll be ready to start thinking about zlien in tangible goals. “We want to have a preliminary notice sent out on every one of our new projects.” Or maybe “We want to electronically exchange all of our waivers with our subs and suppliers.”  Knowing your company’s purpose for using zlien will make defining and achieving milestones all the easier as the partnership ramps up.

Next, you will need to decide who within your company will own the zlien relationship and be its champion. At zlien, we pride ourselves on having user-friendly and convenient tools and resources. That said, it will still take some ownership within your company to monitor the account and take action within zlien. This could be your current person in charge of AR/ AP, the office manager, or even an employee who wears all the hats. When the right people are put in place to own the relationship, they will be able to dedicate the proper amount of time to achieve zlien success.

Finally, once the right goals are established and the right people are in place, it will be time to activate your account and get your feet wet!

The best way to become a zlien expert is by actually doing things in zlien. Build a cadence: log in, monitor project deadlines,  exchange documents, and so on. The more your company builds up these habits, the more success you will have when it comes to truly implementing zlien as a successful process.
