A Day in the Life: zlien Marketing

The marketing department at zlien is small, but powerful! We spend our days in the zlien office at 4819 Prytania Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. We try to spread the word about zlien and work to make our website and blog the most useful resources for anyone with questions about construction payment (or mechanics liens or preliminary notices or lien waivers, etc.)

A Typical Day in Marketing

The first official activity of the day for marketing is a 5 minute standup at 9:30 in the morning. At this point we have had some time to settle in and check on what we need to do for the day, then we update each other and share feedback. The rest of the morning is a great time to make headway on big projects. The afternoon is usually dotted with different meetings depending on the day of the week: on Thursdays we touch base with the sales department, on Fridays we host a Content meeting with the legal department and our CEO to discuss what blog posts and resources we want to produce, and on Wednesdays, we have pizza for lunch with the whole office!

What Do We Do?

The marketing department manages a wide variety of tasks. We keep ourselves busy with long-term projects like marketing campaigns and search engine optimization, but there are always new short-term tasks cropping up as well, like updating website pages and posting on social media! A major part of what we do is produce content. We write and research most of the articles, ebooks, and blog posts that go on our website. Producing these free resources is incredibly important here at zlien because our mission is to make construction payment fair, and making it easy for people to understand the payment process is a key element of our vision.

Who We Are

The marketing team is comprised of two inbound marketing managers: Danny Garfield and Olivia Huppman. Danny went to school at Brown University and became a fellow with Venture for America after graduation, which brought him to zlien. Olivia attended Georgetown University and worked for several startups while living in Washington, DC. She has always loved the Big Easy so she moved down south as soon as she could and is thrilled to be a part of zlien!
