Paygo Series: How to file a lien release or cancellation

Posted by Topher England

6/24/16 3:01 PM

A lot of our customesr come to us because they have a problem getting paid on a project. They search for how to file a Mechanics Lien, something I covered in Part 2 of this series. This article is different, though, because it walks you through how to file a Lien Release or Cancellation. And releasing a lien typically comes after being paid, and that’s something that feels pretty magical.

This is part four in a series that will go through the process of how to maintain lien rights on a job from beginning to end, and is geared toward our non-subscription users.

zlien helps companies of all sizes manage their lien rights on projects, from sole-proprietors to national corporations. The only way to track your deadlines, send notices, and, if you need to, file a lien, is to enter your projects into zlien. To cater to companies of all sizes, zlien has a number of different ways you can enter your projects:

  • Using our redesigned Add New Project page
  • Uploading a spreadsheet of your projects
  • Connecting directly to zlien’s system through an API

Let’s talk about each of these options to see which one is right for you.

3 Things You Should Stop Doing

Posted by Topher England

3/22/16 4:35 PM

Here at zlien, we're invested in your success. It's why we have a User Success Team, instead of customer service. We see the documents you file and celebrate when we know it means you've been paid (like when you file a lien release)! But we also see when things don't work out. Our goal is to help you get paid, so we've put together a list of three things that can make a big difference. Vanquishing these three bad habits can help you get paid and get paid more quickly.

System Release: Expanded Contacts Auto-fill

Posted by Topher England

3/22/16 1:29 PM

Today we’re excited to announce an updated feature that makes entering your contacts into zlien even easier. Every project you enter into zlien needs to have at least one contact: your hiring party. For those of you who have a lot of projects with the same customer, you may have noticed that zlien remembers your customer details from one project to the next. The moment you start typing, the system would suggest the contact name and address, relieving you of entering the same contact multiple times. We took this feature and made it even more powerful. How?

Check out zlien's New Lien Waiver Exchange

Posted by Topher England

3/7/16 3:26 PM

zlien's proud to introduce a new Lien Waiver Exchange available to users and non-users alike. We've heard the feedback that exchanging lien waivers can be a pain (and messy!), and we wanted to simplify that process for everybody. Using our new Lien Waiver Exchange, you can quickly choose the right waiver for you, generate a waiver that complies with your state's statute, and sign and send it electronically or download it for printing.

For our subscriptions users, please note that the Lien Waiver Exchange is a standalone public feature. We'll be integrating it to the zlien App next and adding features specifically geared toward subscription users. You can continue generating lien waivers in App for now, or you can try the publically accessible version.

Read on to learn more about this exciting new feature.

This is part three in a series that will go through the process of how to maintain lien rights on a job from beginning to end, and is geared toward zlien's non-subscription users.

If you’re reading this, then you’re probably interested in protecting your lien rights on your project and filing a lien if you haven’t been paid. Last time, I wrote about how to file preliminary notices on your projects (that’s the protecting part). This time, I go over how to file a lien.
